Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • 2 cups white sugar

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup butter

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 cups oatmeal

  • 1 cup flaked coconut

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, cocoa powder, butter, and milk in a saucepan over high heat and boil for 5 minutes. Turn off heat and immediately stir in oatmeal, coconut, and vanilla extract.

  2. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Cook's Note:

Make sure you boil for exactly 5 minutes and put the vanilla extract in right when it's done boiling.
