Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • 2 cups ketchup

  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • 1 cup bourbon

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • ¾ cup molasses

  • ¾ cup apple cider vinegar

  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons onion powder

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder

  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Directions

  1. Combine ketchup, tomato sauce, bourbon, brown sugar, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, mustard powder, liquid smoke, and cayenne pepper in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, until sauce is reduced and smooth, about 45 minutes.
