Mint Julep Iced Tea

This summer citrus-mint iced tea using fresh mint was my Grandmom's fabulous recipe. Kids and adults alike love it! You can add Kentucky bourbon when the guest list is all adults. Serve over ice.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 4 tea bags

  • ½ cup chopped fresh mint

  • 2 quarts cold water

  • 1 cup orange juice

  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions

  1. Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Add tea bags and mint to sugar mixture; let steep for 10 minutes. Strain mixture and discard tea bags and mint.

  2. Combine tea mixture, 2 quarts cold water, orange juice, and lemon juice in a pitcher.
