Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • 1 cup ketchup

  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar

  • ½ cup frozen apple juice concentrate

  • cup cooked crumbled bacon, ground in spice grinder

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon lemon pepper

  • 2 bay leaves

  • ½ cup grated onion

  • ½ cup black tea leaves

Directions

  1. Combine ketchup, vinegar, apple juice concentrate, bacon, soy sauce, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, paprika, lemon pepper, and bay leaves together in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Stir onion and tea leaves into ketchup mixture, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring often, until sauce is slightly thickened, 10 to 15 minutes. Strain sauce and cool.
