This is a very easy cheese sauce that gets my family to eat their vegetables. If you've always wondered how to make melted cheese pourable, this is the recipe you've been looking for. Longhorn cheese is melted and combined with milk, cornstarch, spices and yellow food coloring for a sauce you can serve with most anything.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 5 servings

  • 2 ½ cups milk, divided

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 cups shredded Colby longhorn cheese

  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt

  • teaspoon ground red pepper

  • 4 drops yellow food coloring

Directions

  1. In a small bowl combine 1/2 cup milk with cornstarch; mix well and set aside.

  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine cheese with 2 cups milk and melt. Stir in garlic salt, red pepper and food coloring. To the melted cheese add the cornstarch mixture and stir well.
