Ingredients
-
1 loaf French bread
-
4 tablespoons margarine
-
8 ounces sliced deli turkey meat
-
8 slices provolone cheese
-
8 strips cooked bacon
-
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
-
4 tablespoons jellied cranberry sauce
-
8 slices fresh tomatoes
-
4 lettuce leaves
Directions
-
Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler.
-
Cut bread into four pieces; split each lengthwise almost all the way through for four sandwiches. Spread margarine on insides of each piece. Place on a baking sheet, cut-sides up.
-
Broil in the preheated broiler until toasted and lightly browned, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove baking sheet from the oven.
-
Layer 4 bottom bread pieces with 2 slices each turkey, Provolone cheese, and bacon. Slightly cool 4 top bread pieces for sandwich tops, then spread mayonnaise onto cut sides of each of piece; set aside on a plate.
-
Broil layered bottom bread pieces until cheese melts, about 1 minute. Remove from the broiler; spread 1 tablespoon cranberry sauce on each sandwich. Layer each with tomatoes and lettuce; place 1 top bread piece over each sandwich.
Cook's Note:
Substitute leftover sliced Thanksgiving turkey for the deli variety to give this sandwich even more seasonal flavor.
