Ingredients
For the apples
- 6
apples, cored and sliced
- 1/4 cup
granulated sugar
- 2 tsp.
ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp.
kosher salt
Juice of 1/2 lemon
For the cobbler
- 2 cups
all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup
granulated sugar
- 2 tsp.
baking powder
- 1/2 tsp.
kosher salt
- 1/2 cup
(1 stick) butter, cold, cut into 1/2" cubes
- 1/2 cup
heavy cream
- 1
large egg, beaten
Egg wash, for brushing
Coarse sugar, for sprinkling
Directions
- Step 1Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Let apples macerate for 15 minutes.
- Step 2In another large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Incorporate butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs then stir in heavy cream and egg.
- Step 3 Pour apples into a large baking dish and top with dollops of dough. Brush dough with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake until golden brown and bubbling, 1 hour. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
