Healthy nutrition is nutrition that ensures the growth, normal development and life of a person, contributing to the strengthening of his health and the prevention of diseases. Following healthy eating habits combined with regular exercise reduces the risk of chronic diseases and disorders such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer.
Modern science conducts numerous studies to optimize the diet for the prevention of major chronic diseases.
The first full-scale study, which confirmed that proper nutrition can significantly reduce problems with cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes, was the project "North Karelia", conducted in Finland since 1973. Over 35 years, the population of the region of North Karelia has mortality from cardiovascular diseases decreased by 7 times.
The main changes that led the North Karelia project to this result are smoking cessation and a change in the diet of the population: 1. 80% reduction in butter consumption 2. Increased consumption of vegetable oil 3. Consumption of low-fat dairy products 4. Increased consumption of fruits and vegetables 5. Changes in the recipe of traditional dishes and training the population in new cooking techniques (baking and boiling)
