Ingredients for - Toasted chocolate panettone sandwiches

1. 150ml milk
2. 3 medium eggs
3. ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
4. 320g panettone, cut into 2cm slices
5. 120g chocolate hazelnut spread
6. 15g butter
7. ice cream, to serve

How to cook deliciously - Toasted chocolate panettone sandwiches

1 . Stage

Whisk together the milk, eggs and nutmeg in a shallow bowl. Cut each slice of panettone lengthways into two pieces and spread one side with some of the chocolate spread. Sandwich with the other piece of panettone.

2 . Stage

Heat the butter in a large frying pan until just sizzling. Dip the sandwiches in the egg mixture, turning quickly to ensure they don’t get too wet, then fry for 3-4 mins on each side until golden brown. If your pan isn’t big enough, you might need to do this in batches – keep them warm in a low oven while you fry the rest.

3 . Stage

To serve, slice the sandwiches in half and top with ice cream, if you like.
