1. 3/4 cup butter, softened -
2. 1 cup sugar -
3. 1 large egg, room temperature -
4. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract -
5. 2 cups all-purpose flour -
6. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder -
7. 1-1/3 cups sweetened shredded coconut -
8. 1/2 cup chopped walnuts -
9. 1 jar (10 to 12 ounces) apricot preserves -

How to cook deliciously - Apricot Bars

1. Stage

Preheat the oven to 350 F°. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, for five to seven minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla.

2. Stage

In a small bowl, whisk the flour and baking powder; gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed ingredients, mixing well. Fold in the coconut and walnuts.

3. Stage

Press 2/3 dough into the bottom of a greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Spread preserves over the dough and then crumble the remaining dough over the preserves. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Let the dish cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Cut the cooled dessert into bars.
