1. 2 c. (240 g.) all-purpose flour, plus more for surface -
2. 1 tbsp. baking powder -
3. 1 tbsp. granulated sugar  -
4. 1 tsp. kosher salt -
5. 1 c. cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2" slices -
6. 2/3 c. cold heavy cream, plus more for brushing -

How to cook deliciously - Best-Ever Baking Powder Biscuits

1. Stage

In the large bowl of a stand mixer, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until combined. Add butter and cover bowl with plastic wrap. Freeze bowl and the mixer's paddle attachment 15 minutes.

2. Stage

In stand mixer fitted with the chilled paddle attachment, beat flour mixture on medium speed until butter is mostly incorporated but small chunks remain. Switch to the dough hook and continue to beat on medium speed, gradually adding cream, until dough just comes together.

Transfer dough to a lightly floured piece of parchment and knead by hand just until it fully comes together. Roll out into a 1"-thick rectangle. Freeze dough on parchment, uncovered, 15 minutes.

4. Stage

Preheat oven to 425°. Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface. Using a bench scraper or knife, cut dough into 12 squares. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush tops with cream.

5. Stage

Bake biscuits until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Serve warm with jam alongside.
