1. 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar -
2. 6 oz. unsalted butter  -
3. 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour   -
4. 2 tsp. baking soda -
5. 1 c. buttermilk -
6. 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract  -
7. 4 large eggs -
8. 1/2 tsp. kosher salt -
9. 2 tbsp. cocoa powder  -
10. 2 oz. red food coloring -
11. 2 oz. hot water -
12. 1 tsp. vinegar -
13. 8 oz. cream cheese -
14. 2 oz. unsalted butter, softened -
15. 8 oz. confectioners sugar -
16. 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract -

How to cook deliciously - First Lady Michelle Obama's Favorite Red Velvet Cake

1. Stage

Preheat oven to 350°. In a stand mixer, mix together sugar and butter. Slowly add flour sifted with baking soda.

Alternatively, add buttermilk, and then add vanilla, eggs, and salt.

Mix cocoa powder with red food coloring and water. Add to mixture.

Add vinegar.

Pour into 3 8" cake pans and bake for 20 minutes.
