Ingredients for - Upside-Down Plum Cake

1. 3/4 c. packed brown sugar  -
2. 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, melted -
3. 6 small plums, pitted and sliced into 1/4-inch wedges -
4. 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour -
5. 1 tsp. baking powder -
6. 1/2 tsp. baking soda -
7. 1/2 tsp. kosher salt  -
8. 1/2 c. butter, softened -
9. 1 c. granulated sugar  -
10. 2 large eggs -
11. 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract  -
12. 1/3 c. buttermilk -

How to cook deliciously - Upside-Down Plum Cake

1. Stage

Preheat oven to 350°. In a 9" round cake pan, stir together melted butter and brown sugar. Fan plum slices out in an overlapping pattern over the sugar mixture in the bottom of the pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in two batches, alternating with the buttermilk and beat just until combined. Pour batter over plums, spreading to cover evenly. 

4. Stage

Bake until a toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean, 50 to 60 minutes. Let cool in pan 20 minutes, then invert onto a cake plate and let cool completely.
