Ingredients for - Fresh Tomato Sauce

1. 2 tbsp. butter -
2. 1 medium yellow onion, chopped -
3. 3 cloves garlic, minced  -
4. 3 lb. plum tomatoes, cored and chopped -
5. Kosher salt -
6. Pinch crushed red pepper flakes, optional  -
7. 2 tbsp. lemon juice -

How to cook deliciously - Fresh Tomato Sauce

1. Stage

In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, 1 minute. 

2. Stage

Add tomatoes and season with salt and red pepper flakes, if using. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring often, breaking tomatoes up with a wooden spoon, until tomatoes are broken down and sauce thickens slightly, about 25 minutes. Add lemon juice. 

3. Stage

Taste and season with more salt as needed.
