1. 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter -
2. 1/4 c. granulated sugar -
3. 1/2 c. packed brown sugar -
4. 1 tsp. your choice of ground spices or flavoring extracts -
5. 1/4 tsp. kosher salt -
6. 1 large egg -
7. 1/2 tsp. baking soda -
8. 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour  -
9. 1 to 1 1/4 c. your choice of chopped mix-ins -
10. 1 1/4 c. chocolate chips -
11. Flaky sea salt -
12. 1/3 c. old-fashioned oats -
13. 1 tbsp. chia seeds -
14. 1 tbsp. hemp seeds -
15. 1/3 c. finely chopped toasted almonds -
16. 1/3 c. rum raisins  -
17. 1 tsp. ground cinnamon  -
18. 1/4 c. Goldfish  -
19. 1/4 c. crushed potato chips -
20. 1/4 c. popcorn -
21. 1 tsp. cheddar seasoning -

How to cook deliciously - Anything Goes Pantry Cookies

1. Stage

Preheat oven to 325° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium pot, melt butter. If desired, continue cooking to brown butter, about 5 minutes: Reduce heat to medium low and continue cooking, watching closely and stirring occasionally. Butter will simmer and foam, and milk solids will start to turn golden brown. Once vigorous simmering stops and butter is golden and smells nutty, immediately remove from heat.

2. Stage

In a large bowl (or in your pot), whisk together hot melted butter, sugars, spices or extracts (if using), and salt until sugar is mostly dissolved and mixture is smooth and shiny. Let cool slightly, then whisk in egg until smooth and combined.

3. Stage

Fold in flour and baking soda until just combined, then fold in mix-ins until evenly distributed. Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough and transfer to prepared pan.

Bake until edges are golden and tops are set but still blonde, 11 to 13 minutes.
