Add 2 tablespoons salt to a large pot of boiling water. Cook pasta until al dente, about 2 to 3 minutes less than the box instructions. Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water before draining.

2. Stage

In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil and heat until shimmering. Add sliced garlic and cook, turning often, until golden brown and crispy. Transfer garlic chips to a paper towel-lined plate.

3. Stage

Wipe out the skillet and return it over medium-low heat. Melt butter until foamy, then add minced garlic. Cook, stirring or swirling often, until just beginning to turn golden and the garlic begins to smell slightly nutty, about 5 minutes.

4. Stage

Remove from the heat and whisk in reserved pasta water. Add pasta and toss to coat. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Garnish with parsley and serve.
