1. 1 onion -
2. 3 carrots -
3. 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil -
4. 1 jar marinara sauce -
5. 1 package firm tofu -
6. c. milk -
7. Nutmeg -
8. 3/4 lb. penne pasta -

How to cook deliciously - Meatless Bolognese with Penne

1. Stage

Adult Slice the onion.

2. Stage

Child Help chop the onion. Help grate the carrots.

3. Stage

Adult Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add onions and cook 5 minutes. Add grated carrots and cook 5 minutes more.

4. Stage

Adult and Child Add the marinara sauce to the saucepan. Stir carefully, using a long-handled wooden spoon and wearing oven mitts. Turn heat up to medium and cook for 5 minutes.

5. Stage

Adult and Child Crumble the tofu into the sauce. Mix thoroughly. Cook over medium heat another 5 to 7 minutes, or until sauce begins to simmer.

6. Stage

Adult and Child Measure and pour the milk into the sauce, adding more to taste. Grate the nutmeg and stir into sauce. Season to taste with salt. Serve over penne pasta.
