1. Cooking spray
2. White sugar 3 ¾ cups
3. Light corn syrup 1 ½ cups
4. Water 1 cup
5. Orange, or other flavored extract 1 tablespoon
6. Food coloring (Optional) ½ teaspoon
7. Confectioners' sugar for dusting ¼ cup

How to cook deliciously - Hard Candy

1 . Stage

Grease a cookie sheet with cooking spray.

2 . Stage

Stir together white sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios

3 . Stage

Without stirring, heat to 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios

4 . Stage

Remove from the heat and stir in flavored extract and food coloring. Pour onto the prepared cookie sheet. Dust top with confectioners' sugar. Dotash Meredith Food Studios

5 . Stage
