1. Bulk pork sausage - ½ pound
2. Water - 8 cups
3. Chicken broth - 2 (14.5 ounce) cans
4. Diced tomatoes - 1 (28 ounce) can
5. Dry lentils, rinsed - 1 (16 ounce) package
6. Onion, chopped - 1 large
7. Celery, finely chopped - 1 stalk
8. Shredded carrot - 1 cup
9. Chopped garlic - 1 tablespoon
10. Garlic powder - 1 tablespoon
11. Chopped fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon
12. Dried oregano - ½ teaspoon
13. Black pepper - ½ teaspoon
14. Dried basil - ¼ teaspoon
15. Dried rosemary - 1 pinch
16. Salt to taste - 1 pinch
17. Diced cabbage - 1 ½ cups

How to cook deliciously - Hearty Lentil and Sausage Soup

1. Stage

Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Break sausage into chunks and put in the pot; cook and stir until completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes.

Transfer cooked sausage to a slow cooker. Add water, chicken broth, tomatoes, lentils, onion, celery, carrot, and garlic. Season mixture with garlic powder, parsley, oregano, pepper, basil, rosemary, and salt.

Cook on Low until lentils are tender, about 4 hours.

Stir cabbage into the soup; continue cooking until the cabbage is softened, 15 to 20 minutes.
