2. Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and sliced - 4 large
3. White sugar - 3 tablespoons
4. Ground cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
5. Ground nutmeg - ½ teaspoon
6. Ground cumin - ½ teaspoon
7. Lemon juice, or as needed - 1 tablespoon
8. Plain soy milk - 2 cups
9. Apple butter - ½ cup
10. Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
11. Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
12. Salt - ¼ teaspoon
13. Soft-crust French bread - 12 (1/2 inch thick) slices

How to cook deliciously - Dairy-Free Apple French Toast

1. Stage

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.

Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat. Saute apples until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Reduce heat to medium. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cumin and cook until tender, stirring occasionally, 5 to 10 minutes more. Stir in lemon juice and remove from heat.

Blend soy milk, apple butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt together in a blender until smooth. Pour into a shallow bowl.

Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Dip bread slices into soy milk batter, coating evenly. Cook in the skillet until lightly browned, 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Transfer bread to the prepared baking sheet.
