1. Beef sirloin, cut into chunks - 2 pounds
2. Garlic salt, or to taste - ¼ teaspoon
3. Salt and ground black pepper to taste - ¼ teaspoon
4. Beef stock - 1 (32 ounce) carton
5. Tomato sauce - 1 (8 ounce) can
6. Water - 1 cup
7. Barley - 1 cup
8. Diced carrots - ¾ cup
9. Sliced fresh mushrooms - 1 (6 ounce) package
10. Onion, diced - ½ medium
11. Garlic, minced - 4 cloves
12. Bay leaves - 2 large

1. Stage

Season beef with garlic salt, salt, and pepper.

2. Stage

Place seasoned beef into a slow cooker with stock, tomato sauce, water, barley, carrots, mushrooms, onion, garlic, and bay leaves. Stir to combine, then cover and cook on Low until soup thickens and beef is tender, about 6 hours.

Discard bay leaves before serving.
