2. Cooked, smoked lean ham, cut into chunks - 1 pound
3. Low-sodium diced tomatoes, undrained - 1 (14.5 ounce) can
4. Dried lentils, rinsed - 1 ¾ cups
5. Chopped onion - 8 ounces
6. Sliced carrots - 6 ounces
7. Chopped celery - 6 ounces
8. Garlic, minced - 5 cloves
9. Ground black pepper - ½ teaspoon
10. Salt (Optional) - ½ teaspoon
11. Dried thyme, or more to taste - ½ teaspoon
12. Bay leaf - 1

How to cook deliciously - Slow Cooker Lentil Soup

1. Stage

Combine water, ham, tomatoes, lentils, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, pepper, salt, thyme, and bay leaf in a slow cooker.

Cover and cook on Low until lentils and vegetables are as soft as you like, 6 to 8 hours. Remove bay leaf before serving.
