Ingredients for - Spiced Turnips (Shalgam Masala)

1. Vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
2. Onion, chopped 1 large
3. Ginger-garlic paste 1 teaspoon
4. Small green chile peppers, seeded and chopped 2
5. Tomatoes, chopped 2
6. Ground coriander 1 teaspoon
7. Ground cumin 1 teaspoon
8. Ground turmeric ½ teaspoon
9. Salt to taste ½ teaspoon
10. Peeled and cubed turnips 2 cups
11. Hot water ⅔ cup
12. Brown sugar 1 teaspoon

How to cook deliciously - Spiced Turnips (Shalgam Masala)

1 . Stage

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir until soft, about 10 minutes. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and chile peppers; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

2 . Stage

Stir tomatoes, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and salt into the saucepan; mix well. Add turnips and hot water; stir well. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until turnips are tender, 20 to 30 minutes. Add brown sugar and coarsely mash the turnips.
