1. 1-1/2 cups uncooked medium pasta shells (about 4 ounces) -
2. 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean) -
3. 1 medium onion, chopped -
4. 1 garlic clove, minced -
5. 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes -
6. 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce -
7. 1 teaspoon sugar -
8. 1/2 teaspoon salt -
9. 1/2 teaspoon pepper -

How to cook deliciously - Beef and Shells

1. Stage

Cook the pasta following the package instructions and drain well. Editor's Tip: Slightly undercook the pasta, and let it finish cooking in the meat and sauce mixture to absorb more flavor.

2. Stage

While the pasta is cooking, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef with the onion and garlic, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, five to seven minutes. Add the tomatoes, sauce, sugar, salt and pepper, and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, to thicken and blend flavors, 10 to 15 minutes.

3. Stage

Stir in the pasta and heat through.
