1. Bulk Italian sausage 1 pound
2. Chopped onion ½ cup
3. Garlic, minced, or more to taste 1 clove
4. Beef broth 10 cups
5. Black beans, rinsed and drained 3 (15 ounce) cans
6. Butter beans, rinsed and drained 2 (15.5 ounce) cans
7. Diced tomatoes, undrained 1 (14.5 ounce) can
8. Minced fresh basil 1 ½ tablespoons
9. Chopped fresh oregano 1 ½ teaspoons
10. Shredded Parmesan cheese, or more to taste 2 tablespoons

1 . Stage

Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook and stir sausage, onion, and garlic in the hot skillet until sausage is browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.

Add broth, black beans, butter beans, diced tomatoes, basil, and oregano; bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for at least 10 minutes.
