1. Corn oil - 2 tablespoons
2. Onion, thinly sliced - 1 extra large
3. Hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®) - 1 ½ teaspoons
4. Prepared yellow mustard - 1 teaspoon
5. White sugar - 1 teaspoon
6. Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
7. Salt - 1 teaspoon
8. Ground black pepper - ¼ teaspoon
9. Ground cayenne pepper - ¼ teaspoon
10. Water - ½ cup
11. Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons

How to cook deliciously - Hot Dog Onions

1. Stage

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onion; cook and stir until onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in hot sauce, yellow mustard, sugar, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Reduce heat to medium-low, and continue to cook for about 5 minutes. Stir in water and tomato paste; simmer until liquid has reduced, about 20 minutes.
