1. Onions, diced - 2 medium
2. Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
3. Navy beans, drained - 4 (15 ounce) cans
4. Sliced smoked sausage - 2 pounds
5. Ketchup - 1 cup
6. Apple juice - 1 cup
7. Real bacon bits - 1 (2.5 ounce) package
8. Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
9. Cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
10. Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
11. Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
12. Salt - 1 teaspoon
13. Ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon
14. Shredded Cheddar cheese, or to taste - ¼ cup

How to cook deliciously - Instant Pot Sausage and Beans

1. Stage

Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot), add oil, and select Saute function. Add onion and saute until soft, 5 to 7 minutes.

Add navy beans, sausage, ketchup, apple juice, bacon bits, brown sugar, cider vinegar, mustard, garlic, salt, and pepper. Close and lock the lid. Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 20 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.

Release pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid.

Serve topped with Cheddar cheese.
