1. Active dry yeast - 1 (.25 ounce) package
2. Warm water - ¼ cup
3. Cottage cheese, room temperature - 1 cup
4. White sugar - 2 tablespoons
5. Butter, room temperature - 1 tablespoon
6. Salt - 1 teaspoon
7. Baking soda - ¼ teaspoon
8. Dill seed - 2 teaspoons
9. Dried minced onion - 1 tablespoon
10. Egg - 1
11. All-purpose flour, or more if needed - 2 ¼ cups
12. Butter, melted, or to taste - 1 tbsp
13. Salt - 1 pinch

1. Stage

Soften yeast in warm water; let stand 10 minutes.

Mix cottage cheese, sugar, butter, 1 teaspoon salt, and baking soda together in a large mixing bowl. Add dill seed, dried onion, egg, and yeast mixture; mix well. Gradually add flour, about 1/4 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. If dough seems too sticky, add another 1 to 2 tablespoons flour.

Cover the bowl with a clean cotton kitchen towel and place in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
