Ingredients for - Apple Pie Filling

1. Thinly sliced apples - 18 cups
2. Lemon juice - 3 tablespoons
3. Water - 10 cups
4. White sugar - 4 ½ cups
5. Cornstarch - 1 cup
6. Ground cinnamon - 2 teaspoons
7. Salt - 1 teaspoon
8. Ground nutmeg - ¼ teaspoon

1. Stage

Place apples in a bowl. Toss apples with lemon juice in a large bowl and set aside. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios

Pour water into a Dutch oven over medium heat. Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl; add to water, stir well, and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, constantly stirring. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios

Add apples and return to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until apples are tender, 6 to 8 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios
