1. Sifted all-purpose flour 2 cups
2. Baking powder 2 teaspoons
3. Salt ½ teaspoon
4. Shortening ⅔ cup
5. Packed brown sugar 2 ¼ cups
6. Eggs 3
7. Semisweet chocolate chips 2 cups
8. Chopped walnuts 1 cup
9. Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon

How to cook deliciously - Congo Bars I

1 . Stage

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

2 . Stage

Melt shortening, stir in brown sugar. Let cool.

3 . Stage

Beat in the eggs.

4 . Stage

Add dry ingredients.

5 . Stage

Add chocolate chips, nuts and vanilla.

6 . Stage

Pour in 10 x 15-inch pan and bake for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
