1. Butter - 6 tablespoons
2. Onions, chopped - 2
3. Jalapeno peppers, chopped (Optional) - 2
4. Mexican-style diced tomatoes, undrained - 2 (14.5 ounce) cans
5. Uncooked white rice - 1 cup
6. Salt and ground black pepper to taste - 1 cup
7. Sour cream, or as desired (Optional) - ½ cup
8. Shredded Cheddar cheese, or as desired (Optional) - ½ cup

How to cook deliciously - Easy Authentic Spanish Rice

1. Stage

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat; cook and stir onions and jalapeño peppers in butter until softened, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir Mexican-style tomatoes into onion mixture; add rice, salt, and black pepper.

Bring rice mixture to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer until rice is cooked, 40 to 45 minutes. Garnish with sour cream and Cheddar cheese to serve.
