Ingredients for - Mom's Pickled Beets

1. 3/4 cup sugar -
2. 3/4 cup white vinegar -
3. 3/4 cup water -
4. 1-1/2 teaspoons salt -
5. 3/4 to 1 teaspoon pepper -
6. 1 large onion, thinly sliced -
7. 2 cans (13-1/4 ounces each) sliced beets, undrained -
8. Sliced green onions, optional -

How to cook deliciously - Mom's Pickled Beets

1. Stage

In a large saucepan, combine the first 6 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat; add beets. Let stand at room temperature for 1 hour. Transfer to a large bowl.

2. Stage

Cover and chill 6 hours or overnight. Garnish with green onions if desired.
