1. Skinless chicken thighs, or more to taste - 4
2. Lemon, cut into wedges - ½
3. Olive oil - 4 tablespoons
4. Onion, coarsely chopped - 1
5. Garlic, minced - 2 large cloves
6. Dry white wine - ½ cup
7. Chopped tomatoes in juice - 1 (14 ounce) can
8. Ground cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
9. Ground cloves - ½ teaspoon
10. Ground allspice - ½ teaspoon
11. White sugar - 1 pinch
12. Salt and ground black pepper to taste -

How to cook deliciously - Spiced Balkan Chicken

1. Stage

Rub chicken pieces with lemon. Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or lidded skillet. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, 5 to 10 minutes.

Pour wine over the chicken. Add tomatoes with their juice, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, sugar, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil. Cover the Dutch oven and simmer until chicken is tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
