Ingredients for - French Onion Soup IX

1. Butter - 2 tablespoons
2. Yellow onions, halved and sliced 1/2 inch thick - 2 pounds
3. Beef broth - 4 (14 ounce) cans
4. Beef consomme - 1 (10.5 ounce) can
5. Grated Romano cheese - ¼ cup
6. Salt and pepper to taste - ¼ cup
7. French bread, toasted - 8 slices
8. Shredded Gruyere cheese - ½ cup

How to cook deliciously - French Onion Soup IX

1. Stage

In a large pot over low heat, melt butter. Cook onions in butter until soft and golden brown, 15 to 30 minutes.

2. Stage

Pour in beef broth and consomme and simmer 10 minutes.

3. Stage

Preheat oven broiler.

4. Stage

Whisk Romano into soup and season with salt and pepper. Pour soup into 8 ovenproof bowls. Top with toasted slices of bread and grated Gruyere.

5. Stage

Place bowls under broiler until cheese melts.
