1. Butter 2 tablespoons
2. Yellow onions, halved and sliced 1/2 inch thick 2 pounds
3. Beef broth 4 (14 ounce) cans
4. Beef consomme 1 (10.5 ounce) can
5. Grated Romano cheese ¼ cup
6. Salt and pepper to taste ¼ cup
7. French bread, toasted 8 slices
8. Shredded Gruyere cheese ½ cup

How to cook deliciously - French Onion Soup IX

1 . Stage

In a large pot over low heat, melt butter. Cook onions in butter until soft and golden brown, 15 to 30 minutes.

2 . Stage

Pour in beef broth and consomme and simmer 10 minutes.

3 . Stage

Preheat oven broiler.

4 . Stage

Whisk Romano into soup and season with salt and pepper. Pour soup into 8 ovenproof bowls. Top with toasted slices of bread and grated Gruyere.

5 . Stage

Place bowls under broiler until cheese melts.
