Ingredients for - Glorified Gingerbread

1. White sugar - 1 cup
2. Shortening - ½ cup
3. All-purpose flour - 2 cups
4. Ground ginger - 1 teaspoon
5. Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
6. Ground cloves - ½ teaspoon
7. Salt - ½ teaspoon
8. Molasses - 2 tablespoons
9. Egg - 1
10. Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
11. Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
12. Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
13. Buttermilk - 1 cup

How to cook deliciously - Glorified Gingerbread

1. Stage

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. Stage

Mix sugar, shortening, flour, spices, and salt as for pie crust. Divide dough in half and set aside.

3. Stage

Add remaining ingredients to half of the dough. Place in a greased 9 inch square pan. Sprinkle the other half of the dough over mixture. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool in pan and then cut into bars.
