1. Lean ground beef - 1 ½ pounds
2. Onion, diced - 1
3. Green bell pepper, diced - 1
4. Garlic powder - 1 tablespoon
5. Ground cumin - 1 tablespoon
6. Processed cheese food (e.g. Velveeta), cubed - 1 pound
7. Diced green chiles - 1 (4 ounce) can
8. Tomato sauce - 1 cup
9. Iceberg lettuce - rinsed, dried, and shredded - ¾ head
10. Tomatoes, chopped - 2
11. Corn chips - 1 (16 ounce) package

How to cook deliciously - Mom's Hot Mexican Salad

1. Stage

Place beef, onion, bell pepper, garlic and cumin in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until hamburger is evenly brown. Drain any excess fat.

2. Stage

Stir cheese, green chilies and tomato sauce into the beef mixture. Cook 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

3. Stage

Equally divide lettuce among salad plates. Pour meat and cheese mixture over lettuce and garnish with chopped tomato and corn chips.
