1. Ketchup - 1 ½ cups
2. Brown sugar - 3 tablespoons
3. Dry mustard powder - 1 tablespoon
4. Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
5. Liquid smoke flavoring - 1 tablespoon
6. Onion Powder - 1 teaspoon
7. Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
8. Celery salt - 2 teaspoons
9. Ground black pepper - 2 teaspoons
10. Worcestershire sauce - 2 teaspoons
11. Ground nutmeg - ⅛ teaspoon
12. Hot pepper sauce - 3 drops
13. Elk roast, cut in half - 1 (4 pound)
14. Hamburger buns, split - 10

How to cook deliciously - Mom's Shredded Elk Sandwiches

1. Stage

Whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard powder, lemon juice, liquid smoke, onion powder, garlic powder, celery salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, nutmeg, and hot pepper sauce in a bowl. Place the elk roast into a large slow cooker, and pour the sauce overtop.

2. Stage

Cover, and cook on High until the meat shreds easily with a fork, about 5 hours. Shred, and serve on the hamburger buns.
