Ingredients for - Pear Pandowdy

1. 2 medium firm pears, peeled and sliced -
2. 2 tablespoons brown sugar -
3. 4-1/2 teaspoons butter -
4. 1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice -
5. 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon -
6. 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg -
7. Topping: -
8. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour -
9. 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar -
10. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder -
11. 1/8 teaspoon salt -
12. 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed -
13. 2 tablespoons water -
14. Vanilla ice cream, optional -

How to cook deliciously - Pear Pandowdy

1. Stage

In a small saucepan, combine the first 6 ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until pears are tender, about 5 minutes. Pour into a greased 3-cup baking dish.

2. Stage

In a small bowl, combine the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in water. Sprinkle over pear mixture. Sprinkle with remaining sugar.

3. Stage

Bake, uncovered, at 375° until a toothpick inserted into topping comes out clean and topping is lightly browned, 20-25 minutes. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.
