1. Tomato sauce - 1 (15 ounce) can
2. Chopped onion, or more to taste - 1 cup
3. Brown sugar - ¼ cup
4. Vinegar - 2 tablespoons
5. Chili powder - 4 teaspoons
6. Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon
7. Salt - 1 teaspoon
8. Dry mustard - ½ teaspoon
9. Boneless beef chuck roast - 1 ½ pounds

1. Stage

Stir together tomato sauce, onion, brown sugar, vinegar, chili powder, soy sauce, salt, and mustard in a slow cooker; add roast. Spoon onion mixture over roast to coat.

Cook on High for 7 hours. Shred roast in the slow cooker with a pair of forks. Continue cooking for 1 hour more.
