1. Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
2. Cubed beef stew meat - 1 ½ pounds
3. Salt and ground black pepper to taste - 1 ½ pounds
4. Garlic, crushed - 3 cloves
5. Water - 3 cups
6. Unsweetened pineapple juice - ½ cup
7. Onion, chopped - 1
8. Tomato sauce - 1 (14 ounce) can
9. Tomato paste - ¼ cup
10. Red potatoes, diced - 2
11. Red bell pepper, sliced - 1
12. Carrot, sliced diagonally - 1 large
13. Miniature cocktail sausages - ½ pound
14. Pineapple chunks, undrained - 1 (8 ounce) can
15. Medium pitted ripe olives, drained - 1 (6 ounce) can
16. Bay leaves - 3 large
17. Hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco®) (Optional) - 1 tablespoon

How to cook deliciously - Caldereta (Filipino Beef Stew)

1. Stage

Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sprinkle beef with salt and black pepper and brown in the hot oil with garlic, about 10 minutes. Pour in water, pineapple juice, onion, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Bring to a boil, turn heat to low, and simmer until beef is almost tender, 35 to 45 minutes.

2. Stage

Stir potatoes, red bell pepper, carrot, mini sausages, pineapple chunks with their juice, olives, and bay leaves into the stew. Bring back to a boil and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 20 more minutes. Season with hot pepper sauce, salt, and black pepper.
