2. Onion, chopped - 1 large
3. Minced garlic - 2 cloves
4. Grated fresh ginger - 2 teaspoons
5. Green chile pepper, chopped - 1
6. Ground cumin - 1 tablespoon
7. Paprika - 2 teaspoons
8. Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
9. Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
10. Ground turmeric - 1 teaspoon
11. Ground cayenne pepper - ½ teaspoon
12. Chopped tomatoes - 4 cups
13. Cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans) - 4 cups
14. Tomato sauce - ½ cup
15. Plain yogurt - ½ cup
16. Lemon, juiced - 1
17. Salt - ½ teaspoon

How to cook deliciously - Delicious Chana Masala

1. Stage

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onion, garlic, ginger, and green chile pepper in hot oil until onions are translucent, about 10 minutes.

2. Stage

Season onion mixture with cumin, paprika, coriander, garam masala, turmeric, and cayenne pepper; stir. Cook onion with spices until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes. Add tomatoes, chickpeas, and tomato sauce; stir and simmer until tomatoes soften, about 5 minutes.

3. Stage

Stir yogurt into mixture until the color of mixture is even; simmer until again hot, about 5 minutes more. Remove pan from heat; stir lemon juice and salt into mixture.
