2. Onion, chopped - 1 medium
3. Matchstick carrots - 1 cup
4. Minced fresh garlic - 2 teaspoons
5. Chopped cabbage - 6 cups
6. Chopped cooked ham - 2 cups
7. Diced potatoes - 2 cups
8. Chicken stock - 2 cups
9. Salt to taste - 2 cups
10. Ground black pepper, or to taste - ½ teaspoon
11. Ground mustard - ½ teaspoon

Melt butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion and cook until it begins to turn clear, 2 to 5 minutes. Stir in carrots and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
