1. Dry black-eyed peas - 1 pound
2. Vegetable broth - 2 (32 fluid ounce) containers
3. Cubed ham - 2 cups
4. Chopped carrots - 1 cup
5. Chopped celery - 1 cup
6. Ham bone - 1
7. Onion, diced - 1 medium
8. Worcestershire sauce - 2 tablespoons
9. Salt and ground black pepper to taste - 2 tablespoons
10. Collard greens - rinsed, trimmed and chopped - 1 pound

How to cook deliciously - Southern New Year's Day Soup in the Slow Cooker

1. Stage

Sort and rinse peas then place into a slow cooker and cover with 8 to 10 cups of cool water. Let soak, 8 hours to overnight.

2. Stage

Drain water from peas and add broth, ham, carrots, celery, ham bone, onion, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.

3. Stage

Cover and cook on High for 5 hours. Stir in collard greens and cook until tender, about 30 minutes more.
