1. Lukewarm water - 2 ½ cups
2. Salt - 1 teaspoon
3. Pre-cooked white cornmeal (such as P.A.N.®) - 2 cups
4. Vegetable oil, or as needed - ¼ cup

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; fry arepas in batches until golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer cooked arepas to a paper towel-lined plate to drain until cool enough to handle. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios
