How to cook deliciously - Mud Pie
1. Stage
In a small bowl, stir together the Oreo cookie crumbs and sugar, if using. Stir in the butter. Evenly press the mixture onto the bottom and up the sides of an ungreased 9-inch pie plate. Refrigerate the crust for 30 minutes. Editor’s Tip: Use a measuring cup to evenly press the crust into its shape. Don’t pack in the mixture too much though, or the crust will be too hard to cut when serving.
2. Stage
Spoon 2 cups of the ice cream into the crust. Drizzle with half of the chocolate syrup, and swirl the syrup into the ice cream with a knife. Editor’s Tip: Use a mini offset spatula, butter knife or rubber spatula to smooth the ice cream into all the edges of the pie crust.
3. Stage
Gently top the first layer with the remaining ice cream. Drizzle the top with the remaining chocolate syrup, then swirl with a knife. Freeze the mud pie until it’s firm.
4. Stage
Remove the mud pie from the freezer 10 to 15 minutes before serving to soften it a bit, so the pie is easier to cut. If desired, top the pie with whole Oreo cookies.
