1. Butter - 3 tablespoons
2. Onion, diced - 1
3. Carrots, diced - 2 large
4. Celery, diced - 3 stalks
5. Whole peeled tomatoes, chopped, juice reserved - 1 (28 ounce) can
6. Salt - 1 teaspoon
7. Ground black pepper - ½ teaspoon
8. Dried parsley - 1 teaspoon
9. Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
10. Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
11. Paprika - 1 teaspoon
12. Beef broth - 2 quarts

1. Stage

In a large pot over medium heat, melt butter. Cook onion, carrots and celery until onion is translucent. Stir in tomatoes with their juice, salt, pepper, parsley, soy sauce, Worcestershire and paprika. Pour in beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes, until vegetables are tender and flavors are well blended.
