Ingredients for - Osso Buco

1. All-purpose flour - ¼ cup
2. Salt - 2 teaspoons
3. Ground black pepper - ¼ teaspoon
4. Veal shank - 2 pounds
5. Butter - 3 tablespoons
6. Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
7. Chopped onion - 1 cup
8. Thinly sliced carrots - 1 cup
9. Chopped celery - ½ cup
10. Garlic, crushed - 2 cloves
11. Tomato sauce - 1 (8 ounce) can
12. Water - 1 cup
13. Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
14. Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
15. Fresh parsley - 3 sprigs
16. Bay leaf - 1

How to cook deliciously - Osso Buco

1. Stage

In a shallow dish, stir together flour, salt, and black pepper. Dredge meat in seasoned flour. In a large skillet, melt butter with oil over medium heat. Brown meat. Remove meat from pan, and set aside.

2. Stage

Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to drippings in pan. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes.

3. Stage

Stir in tomato sauce, water, basil, thyme, parsley, and bay leaf. Return meat to pan. Bring to a boil, and reduce heat to simmer. Cover, and cook for 2 1/2 hours.
