While the cabbage is stewing, cut the onion in half rings, and grate the carrots.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onion and carrot for 1-2 minutes.

Cut the potatoes into medium cubes and rinse with cold water to remove excess starch.

Pour water into a pan with onions and carrots, bring to a boil and add the washed lentils. Stew over medium heat for 5 minutes.
