Ingredients for - Basic Mashed Potatoes

1. Baking potatoes, peeled and quartered - 2 pounds
2. Garlic, peeled, or to taste (Optional) - 3 cloves
3. Milk - 1 cup
4. Butter - 2 tablespoons
5. Salt and ground black pepper to taste - 2 tablespoons

1. Stage

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and garlic, lower heat to medium, and simmer until potatoes are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
