2. Soy sauce - ⅓ cup
3. Bacon, halved crosswise - 1 pound
4. Toothpicks, or as needed - 20
5. Packed brown sugar - ⅓ cup
6. Mayonnaise - ⅓ cup
7. Chili sauce - ⅓ cup

Soak water chestnuts in a bowl with soy sauce for at least 3 hours; drain.
